There are earlier posts in this forum on the SuperTrapp fit problems. I, too, had the headpipe cut and the inner sleeve spot-welded; that was the only way I could get a tight fit. It's interesting that the company now acknowledges the fit problem. A year ago, when I talked to them, they claimed that the pipe should fit perfectly without any modifications.
